Holy. Fucking. Shit. It hit me my freshman year in the cafeteria. The juice cup, the plate of food, the chair glued to my ass, the clothes on my back, to the shape of each brick on the wall – every single thing in the built environment was conceived by some person, somewhere out there in the world. Every single thing that existed was a series of decisions by another human being in a different time and space. It’s not everyday that your mind gets blown and becomes your life’s passion. I was heading down a life of Science, to understand the world, then Design found me, to create the world. These are some personal stories, thoughts and lessons learned in the first ten years of design, as I spend the next 50 years doing design. The following are reminders for the future-me from the now-me, so that the future-me isn’t a lame asshole.
The second goal is for me to to share these thoughts with you and start talking. Contact me at ko.nakatsu@gmail.com if you want to get a hold of me.
